Short Guide to Briefs

A clear creative brief is an essential tool to help you work seamlessly with an illustrator. The brief lets you communicate your vision and ensures you get fantastic art delivered on time.

Let’s make it easy! Here are 10 key points to include in your creative brief:

1 - About the client - background about the client and their goals

2 - Project outline - what exactly is the project?

3 - Target audience - who will the artwork speak to?

4 - Your vision - a particular style (attaching examples is super helpful!)

5 - Deliverables - specific details about the artwork you need

6 - Distribution/usage - How will you use the art?

7 - Artwork specs - size and file formats

8 - Brand guidelines - colors, fonts, logos to include

9 - Timeline - when do you need the work completed?

10 - Budget - what is your target price range?

Don’t have all these darn details down pat yet? No worries. Scott can talk through the project with you to help clarify. With 40 years of experience to lean on, he’s definitely done a brief (or two) before.

In fact, if you don’t already have a specific artist in mind, he can even suggest an illustrator who will be a perfect fit for the job. That might save you loads of time - not having to find, vet, and negotiate with an illustrator yourself.
