The Pitter Patter of Many Patterns

Lisa Ballard sees the world in patterns, so when Landor and Fitch in Cincinnati, Ohio asked her to help them develop a line of diaper patterns for Huggies new brand, Special Delivery, she felt like a new mom!

The new brand line was a more elevated modern take on the typical Huggies baby patterns.

She was given 2 themes: a soft & sweet pattern line and a bold & edgy pattern line. They also wanted a signature pattern which ended up as stylized stork birds carrying bundles.

When creating patterns, Lisa likes to give a wide range of options that are small to large in scale, simpler to complex, and incorporate creative themes, but all hold together stylistically. She also keeps in mind creating designs that will hold up to the production restrictions for printing on the diapers.

For Lisa, the best part of this project was the exploration and experimentation of drawing so many pattern ideas. They weren't all chosen, but that's OK... it was fun getting there.
