Explore Penelope Dullaghan’s “Good Night Forest”!

Penelope Dullaghan recently reflected on one of her favorite projects—creating a world of characters and environments for the Good Night Forest exhibit at the Indiana State Museum. The challenge was to design an immersive representation of nocturnal life in Indiana that would capture museum guests with charm and realism.

Penelope embraced the challenge by diving into the creative process, even joking that she had to "draw her face off" (something she enjoys!). The exhibit offers a magical nighttime experience for children, where they can explore creatures like foxes, deer, bats, and peepers—all creatures that come alive after the sun sets. She expressed excitement about the exhibit, describing it as walking into one of her storybooks.

Discover the magic of nocturnal life in the Good Night Forest exhibit at the Indiana State Museum! Watch the behind-the-scenes video and read an interview with art director Jordan Staats to learn how artist Penelope Dullaghan brought this enchanting world to life.

For more on this project, check out an interview with the museum's art director, Jordan Staats, whom Penelope described as a "dream to work with."
