Heavy Hitterz be hittin’ those swift underhand pitches…

April 21, 2008

I’m back again to plug my favorite traveling group show, Heavy Hitterz! Go figures.

What you are currently feasting your eyes on is the flyer for the Heavy Hitterz Manila show…Also, be sure to check out the microsite for Heavy Hitterz Manila, because it’s quite “frosh”…and it resembles this flyer quite nicely…but with cool tunes bumpin’, something that a flyer by itself could not pull off…no lie.

Here is a link to a really nice photoset I found yesterday of the “How We Do” show at Club 6, which was the launch party for Heavy Hitterz Manila, and featured such greats as Phoneticontrol, Mildred, Ganyan, Daniel Fleres, Deli, and some dude called, like, the Scummy Stepdad…or something…I dunno…I’d slap him a medium five if’n I had the gumption. Oh, shaz.

MC Nature Ned in full effect…

April 15, 2008

Hey y’all…be sure to catch my new album when it drops…i’m still putting the finishing touches in the mix…adding all sorts of dynamic bush-rustlin’ and acorn poppin’ noises. Also, don’t miss the cameo of my boy DJ Wobbly-twiglegs on the 1′s and 2′s on the title track “Loincloth Excursion”…I’ll be maxin’ in the forest ’till then, so be sure to set your sundials so you don’t miss the “not just for squirrels” release party in 2012…If you find yourself stuck in my hood and you need to do your business, don’t wipe with no acorns, ‘aight? Use a leaf.

The Vans Blog!

April 4, 2008

Last month, Nikki Scoggins, the brains behind The Vans Blog did a little feature on yours truly! The write-up included an old bio of mine, and as Nikki pointed out, my use of the word “wylde” was a bit questionable…ah, yes, how foolish I was in my youth. Looking back now, I can say that the bio suffered from various creative handicaps…but look at me now, Momma! I’m using all the correct, non-made up english words with style…you’d be proud! Thanks to Nikki for posting my work, and be sure to stop by her blog at least once a week for some funny pictures, videos, and well-written posts with really great titles…all having to do with Vans shoes and art culture.

Doghead Jones with his $80 yellow turtleneck

April 4, 2008

“Dear UPS man, I am home…please ring the doorbell. I have been waiting for the last two days for a package of gourmet “Saucy Nibblins” dog food, and you guys just keep putting that dad-gum “Sorry we missed you” thing up on the door. Do you even knock more than once? At least try to knock three or four times (medium hard to pretty hard) if you are not going to ring the doorbell…not like that’s hard or anything. I have a very needy little dog who will not eat dry dog food, and I cannot stand his nagging for much longer. Thank you.”
-Doghead Jones.

Dear goof man, please stop looking at the camera.

April 4, 2008

I was recently interviewed by Emeri Gelle for SF Station TV in Mission Dolores Park. Dolores Park is a great place for an interview and also is my favorite place to lay in the grass and have frisbee-chasing dogs run full force into my head. Needless to say, it was an obvious choice for our get together. So anyways, we had fun! We chatted it up, I drew a little picture, mentioned some points of interest in my artmaking, and a little about my process. I tried my best to not look at the camera the whole time, but as you can see, there were a few times where I guess I thought it might be a good idea…hmmm….

San Francisco’s most sought after pet chiropractic

March 27, 2008

…You may have seen him recently on the Daytime Talk Show “How Do You Mean?” starring AJ Mathis, or as a guest appearance on this week’s episode of the Lifetime medical drama “Flatline”…or if you happen to live in San Francisco, you may know him as the guy who rides his recumbent bicycle on the sidewalk, clad in mint green spandex. No matter how you know him, Garett “Greenpants” Parker has been “making the rounds” and is certainly carving out a name for himself, boldly stepping out of the conventional restrictions and rigid dogmas of modern pet chiropractic methods. Using his patented toe-heel-rocking pressure system, Parker has been helping dogs all across the United States to get a second chance at an active life. A former volleyball coach in Versailles Ohio, Parker discovered his unique talent late one night in the high school gymnasium when his foot landed on a stray dog while doing step exercises on the bleachers. In his own words: “There was a distinct crunching noise, kinda like stepping on a bag of dry cereal, and a high pitch yelp…I was frozen in terror, but when I looked down, I saw a happy little dog giving me a thumbs up! Well, I knew that this was my calling, and my talent was evident…so I quit my job as a volleyball coach the very next day, packed up the Ford Festiva with a few burritos and some old bath towels, and headed out for the Bay Area in search of places to perform my unique skills.” Parker does make some house calls but he does request “…a tepid cup of soy chai” to be pre-made when he arrives. He also is allergic to felt and shag carpet. He is currently working on a new line of dog sweaters and tote bags, which he hopes to unveil in the Spring of 2009…He is also currently looking for a girlfriend.

Germaine and Boing-Boing…

March 21, 2008

“This specimen here is a long-necked four-attenae Floofinwillow…I studied these in school when I was finishing up my BFA in Botanical Wizardry…Y’see, I went to one of those real liberal schools that lets you craft your own major. That’s what I came up with for myself…although my curriculum towards the end leaned more towards the Gymastics side…I also was about a half a credit away from having a minor in alley lurking.”

SF Station is featuring my work this April

March 17, 2008

Yours grossly will have his work decorating SF Station’s event fliers for April of this year! I am officially excited to the point of extreme sweaty hands and occasional bursts of spontaneous incomplete/lazy cartwheels. SF Station is THE San Francisco city guide…the most comprehensive and complete guide you’d want to use if’n you want to get waaaay down with the happenings and goings on in the city by the bay.

You can subscribe to SF Station if you want, just look for this icon on the main page:

Many thanks to Emeri Gelle and staff for choosing me to be a part of their ad campaign…I can only hope that it will result in high event turnouts and even higher high fives for myself and San Francisco’s locals! I’m hoping that my palms will be beet red by the end of April due to excessive cordial hand-slappin’…i’ll probably have to invest in some protective hand wear or maybe moisturizer for the next few weeks. Highly worth it!
