Artist:
John Ceballos
Artist info:
Along with being an ultra-early bird (he prefers to start his day around 2 or 3 a.m.), John Ceballos is a child at heart. This child’s heart is revealed in his collection of toys, from which he often draws inspiration for his animated characters, distinguished by heavy black outlines and rich, saturated airbrushed hues. John’s pride and integrity set him apart from his contemporaries. In his own words, "I watch the art not the clock in putting in the time necessary to make each piece complete. I don't weigh or compare the hours a job takes to the price. I meet deadlines and meet my standards." John’s illustrative strength lies in style, color and mood. Inks and acrylics are his mainstay, but he will stray from these to account for idiosyncrasies in the paper’s surface and to achieve just the right textural pattern. John graduated from the Art Center College of Design. He worked as an artist/designer/supervisor at Hallmark, an illustrator for Hellman and Associates Studio, and an art director at Gibson Cards. Since becoming a freelance illustrator, several of his notable projects are a centennial book for General Motors, Broadway on Broadway for Grey Advertising, and the “A Cappella Party” CD cover for Rhino Records.
