Artist:
Andy Buttram
Artist info:
Andy Buttram has the ability to vary his look like a chameleon, a trait that brings him projects ranging from portraits to animal illustrations and institutional paintings. He gladly conquers diverse topics, relying heavily on research to guide him toward his illustrative solutions. Andy is fascinated by the current revolution in illustration—the transition to computers and digital techniques—and watches with devout interest. Still, he prefers to use hands-on, conventional media, although the outcome may be anything but conventional. Andy, like most illustrators and their clients, finds the current market dizzyingly kinetic. The increased demand this has placed on everyone, however, does not faze him; he is fully confident in his ability to master any project. His success is evidenced in his client list, which includes such names as the Louisville Cardinals, Rolls Royce, Federal Express and the College Football Hall of Fame. Every project Andy devotes himself to is indicative of his vast experience, a career that spans more than 25 years. He earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Dayton and continued his studies at the Dayton Art Institute. Before beginning his career in illustration, however, Andy earned valuable insight into the visual communications process by working as a designer and layout artist, an asset many clients have come to appreciate.
